Montgomery County Republican Party

Volunteer

Do you ever wish you could do something about the stories you see in the news? Becoming a volunteer with the Republican Party gives you the opportunity to support candidates who reflect your values, to hear from your elected representatives without media filters, and to spread the Republican message to other frustrated voters. It's your chance to do something about it.

Current Needs

The precinct organization committee is looking for people willing to serve as precinct captains and recruit additional volunteers for neighborhood walks and sign distribution. If you are interested, complete the Volunteer Sign-Up form.

Campaign Needs

During an election year, the need for volunteers is tremendous. Here are brief descriptions of the most significant ways you and your family or friends can participate. Recruiting able and enthusiastic volunteers is crucial to success at the polls.

  • Poll Worker: Poll workers assist with the operation of the polling places on election day. Volunteers are needed at each polling place. More information is available at the Montgomery County Government's Election Center.
  • Poll Watcher: Poll watchers help to protect the integrity of the election by monitoring polling practices for improprieties. Several volunteers are need for each of Montgomery County's 56 polling places.
  • Yard Signs: Yard signs increase visibility and name-recognition for a candidate. Volunteers are needed to deliver signs to those who cannot pick them up from the headquarters. We also need property owners who are willing to post large signs in prominent locations.
  • Headquarters Volunteer: The Party's campaign headquarters will serve as the hub of numerous campaign activities. Volunteers are needed to greet visitors, answer the telephones, and distribute campaign literature and signs.
  • Telephoning: Calling voters directly is one of the most effective get-out-the-vote activities every election year. Volunteers are needed to call potential Republican voters and encourage them to exercise their votes on election day.
  • Transportation: Volunteers are needed to provide transportation to the polls for those who cannot drive themselves.
  • Voter Registration: Another major get-out-the-vote activity is the registration of new voters and new residents. Volunteers are needed to participate in registration drives at area locations.
  • Precinct Leaders: Precinct captains and co-captains are charged with organizing teams in their precincts to conduct a number of activities, including neighborhood walks, sign distribution, and telephoning. Captains, co-captains, and others willing to help are needed in all 56 precincts.
  • Distributing Campaign Literature: One of the most effective ways to generate visibility and votes is the neighborhood canvass. Volunteers willing to canvass their own neighborhoods or nearby neighborhoods can have an enormous impact, particularly for local candidates.
  • Mailings: Mailings increase voter awareness of a particular candidate or the entire slate of Republican candidates. Volunteers are needed to help prepare and send the mailings.

You can help by volunteering for one or more of these activities, and by recruiting other volunteers.
