THE HEROES HIGHWAY OF ALABAMA
I-65 from Mobile to the Tennessee state line

Based on the Resolution (SJR63), Alabama Senator Larry Dixon answered my outrage at the events of 9/11 and the death of C.I.A. Officer, Johnny "Mike" Spann, a True Alabama and American Hero. Therefore after 7 months of work on my "Labor of Love," we are proud to share with you the Dedication of our Nations First "Heroes Highway."

On July 2nd, 2002 at 11am a representative of the Montgomery Fire Dept., Color Guard, will ring a Fire Bell eleven times to show the solidarity we feel with the victims of N.Y.C. and Washington D.C., because of the tragic events of September 11th,2001.

Next the father of "Mike" Spann will say a few words about his son, who was the inspiration for the "Heroes Highway."  Our next speaker will be U.S. Congressman Bob Riley who will talk about the closure and resolve many travelers will receive from Mobile, Alabama to the Tennessee state line when they see the many "Heroes Highway" Markers on each side of I-65.State Congressman Bob McKee will play his guitar and sing a patriotic song and Senator Larry Dixon will talk about the historic highway he helped to create.

We have contacted Maxwell A.F.B. and they have promised a General or other high ranking speaker and we have contacted the White House as well as the C.I.A. for Media help as well as a Representative to be present. The Montgomery Police Dept. will provide 2 officers and the Clanton Fire Dept. and Police Dept. will be honored guests.

Local Newspapers from all over Alabama have been invited to attend as well as all T.V. and Radio Stations from Birmingham, Mobile, Huntsville and Alabama Public Television. WAKA CH8 (CBS) Montgomery as well as CBS Network in N.Y.C. have asked for an Exclusive Report and we hope they will air the Dedication on the "CBS Morning Show" on the 4th of July! Check your local listings.

Also, look for Mr. Spann and myself on Fox News regarding his quest to provide for his Grandchildren's College Fund.

Start a Heroes Highway in your State!

Phase II of my concept involves placing photo displays in 5 of the rest stops along I-65.

Joe Holley the Aide to the Director of the Alabama D.O.T. has granted permission to install theme "Photo-Stops" such as the "Fireman with the Flag" at Ground Zero, the Military stop as a Tribute to all the services with a special photo of C.I.A. Officer Johnny "Mike" Spann and a Pentagon stop with our Commander in Chief.

Next the Airline stop with the World Trade Towers under attack and a photo of the passenger Hero, Todd Beamer, who yelled the famous "Battle Cry", Let's Roll! Danny Pearl will be featured in the War News stop with the 8 brave Newsmen who lost their lives in Osama's  War, to bring us the News.

We need your help to raise the non-Profit funds to pay for a Curator/Photo Expert and to arrange for the expensive photo images from the news wire services and to design the special 24 hour safe, plexiglass frames and to research proposals to any groups like the American Legion and the Police and Fire Associations.

By the way we will also have Photo-Maps at two Welcome Centers to allow travelers to pick a Photo-stop to have a picnic and/or a "Kodak Moment" next to the images they saw on T.V.
