Martha Roby announced today that she will be a candidate for Montgomery City Council District 7. Mrs. Roby is a life long resident of District 7. She and her husband, Riley, are both attorneys in Montgomery. Mrs. Roby is the daughter of Judge Joel and Beth Dubina of Montgomery.
In announcing her candidacy, Mrs. Roby praised current City Council President Alice Reynolds who has decided not to seek reelection. “Alice Reynolds has done an excellent job and is one of Montgomery’s finest leaders. I recognize that she will be leaving big shoes to fill, but I have the desire and passion to fully maximize Montgomery’s potential. I look forward to working with the citizens of this City to make Montgomery a thriving community and a better place to live.”
Mrs. Roby continued, “I represent the next generation of leaders. Montgomery is my home and I want to see our City continue to prosper and grow. With much economic development on the horizon, I want to make sure we manage our growth properly to expand opportunities for all Montgomery citizens. Our City should be an example of excellence for the entire State of Alabama.”
“We have many challenges ahead of us, and it is time for the young leaders of our city to step up and build upon the opportunities provided by those who have led before us. We can build on their work to make Montgomery a city of which we can all be proud. I am dedicated to bringing positive change to the City Council and the City of Montgomery. We must maintain the highest standards of financial integrity and accountability and implement a more effective and efficient system of providing all citizens with a responsible and responsive government,” Mrs. Roby concluded.
